Change Team:
Calendar Updates
by posted 10/14/2019

Hi Families,

It has been a few weeks since I have communicated so I wanted to share some updates that are happening with our team.

First, please thank Sean Kennedy for volunteering to take on the role of manager of our team this season. It is very helpful to have Sean in this role. Sean and I went to the Empire League meeting last week and we now have our game schedule in place. You can see the Empire League games on our calendar now as Sean was busy last night updating those events.

We will have 16 games in the Empire League this season. The playoffs are later this year and will occur the weekend of February 28th. This moves the playoffs away from the school vacation week.

I am trying to organize a scrimmage at the Blue Cross Arena before the Amerks on November 1st. It is not finalized yet, but, please pencil in Friday, November 1st. This will be a Perinton 12U House fun night and we will divide the three 12U white and blue teams into yellow and black teams and have a scrimmage on the big ice. After our scrimmage, we can all head to the Amerks game against Binghamton.

Our first Empire League game will be Friday, November 8th against the other Perinton Blades team in our division. This will be a fun evening at RIC to kick things off.

I have registered our team to participate in Griffin's Guardians Tournament in Cicero on January 17th-19th. This will be our overnight experience for the team this year. We are also looking at other tournaments in March, but, there are local options then. I will work with Sean to create a fundraising plan to pay for the tournaments. One simple option is to divide the fee by 12.

I have the consent to treat form from many of you. Please see me if you have not had a chance to fill out this USA Hockey form. It gives emergency professionals the permission to treat in case you are not present if an injury occurs.

Sean and I will soon be assigning families roles for the season. During home games, we need to provide people to run the clock, keep the scoresheet, and run the penalty box. We only need one person for away games to run the penalty box. We will create a schedule so this responsibility is distributed evenly among families. Trading is an option if you will miss a game.

Go, Blades, Go!
