Overview

Players on the 2020-21 12u AA2 team will have a complete travel hockey experience. Our primary goal is to create a fun and competitive environment where every player can develop their skills and a passion for the game. Our programming this season is highly focused on player development so that each player is equipped with the skills necessary to advance and excel at the next level. Review the Program Overview to learn more about our development program.

 

Head Coach Jason Mallette  |  

 

Jason Mallette (Jay) has just joined our organization as Head Coach of our 2008 AA2 team.  Jason started coaching in 2002 and currently holds a Level 3 Coaching Certification.  He played AAA youth hockey in Rochester and high school hockey for Aquinas Institute and Spencerport.  He played 5 years of Juniors and was selected for the US National Team.  He was also a 2-time Junior All Star. 

Coach Mallette has been and continues to be a positive influence in many children’s lives.  He is someone the kids can look up to and be inspired by.  He pushes his players to always improve on and off the ice.  He takes pride in being a part of grooming young people for life skills like outstanding work ethic, manners, how to overcome obstacles, and working together as a team.  Coach Mallette focuses strongly on skills development and always bringing your best.

Coach Mallette resides in Spencerport, NY with his wife Andrea and 3 children, Meriah (21), Ava (14), and Joey (11) who plays hockey. He owned his own construction business for 20 years and now works as a Regional Sales Representative at James Hardie.  In his spare time, Coach Mallette and his family are very active church members and big Boston Bruin fans.  He likes to golf, work out and spend time with family.  He is also a Certified Personal Trainer.

Duration: August 1, 2020 - March 15, 2021
 

Practices:

  • Two shared practices per week
  • Two full-ice practice per month
  • Two advanced skills development sessions per month by RIC Academy [watch video clip]
  • Two optional advanced skills development sessions per month by RIC Academy for 11u and 12u players. (no extra cost)
  • Monthly goaltender training sessions
  • Monthly off-ice training sessions at Next Level Strength & Conditioning [watch video clip]

* All practices, skills sessions and off-ice training sessions are included. No requirements for additional camps, clinics, or spring hockey.

Games:40-50 total

  • 25-30 independent and league schedule games 
  • 20 tournament games. Two local and two destination 

Events:

  • Rochester Americans and RIT hockey games
  • Preseason team party
  • End of season team party
  • Volunteer and community event
  • Fundraising opportunities

Composition of team:

  • 13-14 skaters
  • 1-2 goaltenders

Budget Estimate:

  • Dues: $1,300-$1,500 per player
  • Apparel and equipment not included
  • Tournaments and miscellaneous team expenses not included in dues (Approx. $400 per player)
  • Fundraising opportunites are available
